I’ve been living in my house for 25 years and hang my hummingbird feeders up every spring and the only thing that has ever invaded them are wasps lol well last Saturday I just happened to look up at the closest one to me and the same exact snake rat snake or whatever it is Was strategically perched down the feeder post with his head up waiting for his breakfast I guess. I took a bunch of pictures and a couple of videos and then I took him off and placed him on a post closer to my pond thinking he would go on with his business and leave. That was exactly a week ago and this morning. There he is again, but I didn’t get to relocate him, somehow, he fell off of the post I was using and slithered underneath the deck, so I imagine I’ll find him there again.
Thanks for sharing you rat snake experience. I know another person that moved a rat snake and found it later returned. It seems that they have to be moved quite a ways out somewhere to make sure they don’t return. I recently moved one over a mile and it has yet to find its way back to my yard.
